Today is Boss’s Day. Now that I’m a “Boss” or as I like to say, a “Boss Lady”, it’s clear to me that I wouldn’t be able to function without being surrounded by a great team. No (wo)man is an island and I am certainly no exception to that rule – far from it! I have been very lucky on my entrepreneurial journey; I’ve met and worked with some amazing women. My childhood BFF for one; she’s smart, fearless and always makes time to help me think through challenges. One of my college besties is on my Advisory Board and brings a corporate perspective to things that I’m sometimes too far in the weeds to see. And then there’s my good friend, the retail guru, she’s been in sales forever and has actually come to vendor meetings with me to help make sure I can talk the talk and walk the walk. Being an enterpreneur, Boss Lady, means that you wear a lot of different hats on any given day. As time goes by, you learn what your strengths and weaknesses are and you figure out how to fill the gaps. It’s great to have a circle of friends who have embraced effie’s paper, but it’s equally as important to have a team behind the scenes helping to keep the engines running.
Imperative to my day-to-day peace of mind, are my girls. I call them my girls because they’re much younger than me and they keep me young; I mean no disrespect here. These young ladies, each in her own way, has taught me what it means to be a Boss Lady. Effie’s Paper is a learning environment, not just for my interns and assistants, but for me too. I’ve been lucky enough to have some very talented, loyal and hardworking young ladies become a part of Team EP. Some have been with me for years, others only a few months but their dedication and tenacity keeps me going. I learn as much from them as I hope they learn from me. I have a great team of young women I work with, I LOVE my girls; your tribe is your vibe!
Thanks for keeping me on my toes girls!
