Girls Trip + Happy Girlfriend’s Day!!

August 01, 2017

Ya’ll know I’m all about making your own magic, especially Black Girl Magic!  And it was Black Girl Magic that propelled the movie, Girls Trip, to set a box office record in its opening weekend – a whopping $30.4 million.  Woo hoo!! Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Regina Hall and Tiffany Haddish worked their collective jelly in the Summer of 2017’s best comedy.  The second week box office returns weren’t too shabby either, clocking in at $20 million. In an industry where those zeros count, the relate-ability of the movie’s topic combined with a good script and great actresses is paving the way to make Girls Trip the Summer Block Buster.

What I love about this movie is that although it features African-American actresses (which is AWESOME), it’s a film about women that women of all races can relate to – just like one of my other favorite girlfriend movies, Bridesmaids. Girl’s Trip was written by  Kenya Barris, Tracy Oliver and Erica Rivinoja, who based the script off their own experiences with their female friends. The film’s plot follows the story of four lifelong friends on a long-overdue weekend getaway trip to New Orleans for the annual Essence Music Festival.

If you haven’t made to the movies to see Ryan, Sasha, Lisa and Dina rekindle their friendship, grab your girlfriends get thee to the movie theater quick, fast and in a hurry!

P.S. Wasn’t the marketing for this movie off the chain!! LOVED IT.
