Nowadays, a right of passage for many college freshman is attending their school’s after-hours shopping event at Target – who wouldn’t want to attend a private shopping event, with a live DJ at Target and lots of cute coeds?!?!
Can you believe how quickly the Summer has flown by?!?! Students are beginning to move into dorm rooms on college and university campuses across the country. My niece, Jasmine, will be one of them when she moves into her dorm at Wichita State University later on this week. I’m so excited because I’m meeting she and her mom in Wichita to help with move-in! So, what’s a proud Auntie to do? Well, I hopped on Pinterest of course! My oh my, have things changed from when I moved into my dorm room at the University of Michigan oh so many years ago. I think we rented a van to accommodate my stuff (i.e., clothes) and my family. Nowadays, college room decor has taken on a category all it’s own; it’s the topic of New York Times articles, it’s trending on Pinterest and now there are entire blogs and online storesdevoted to personalizing one’s college dorm room. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I seem to recall a rule about not being able to remove the curtains. . . I guess those rules don’t apply anymore. People are bringing their own beds, 72″ tvs and the like.
But, no well decorated dorm room is complete with out pretty paper and desk accessories! I mean, I don’t know about you, but I’m always more productive when I’m surrounded by pretty things. So, whether you’re buying back to school items for your kids, your nieces or yourself (eventhough I haven’t been a student in years, I stock up at this time of year, because Fall always represents new school/office supplies to me) – you should head on over to the shop to see all the goodies we have to make your desk pretty.
